Anti-Stripping Agent
The silicon (SIO2) component contained in aggregate, a component of asphalt concrete, shows a stripping phenomenon that repels asphalt. The component is an adhesion promoter that helps to produce asphalt with high indirect tensile strength by inhibiting this stripping action and making them adhere better to each other.
Specifications of Anti-Stripping Agent
  • The ratio for using the liquid stripping inhibitor is determined based on the ratio and test results suggested by the supplier, and, in general, 0.5% of asphalt is used.
  • There are various types of anti-liquid stripping material, and, as the level of performance depends on the type of aggregate, the suitability of the anti-liquid stripping material should be judged using the aggregates used by taking the coverage after dynamic water immersion as the test results.
  • If the coverage ratio after dynamic water immersion is less than 40% before use of the liquid anti-stripping material, it should be more than 50% after use, and if it exceeds 40% before use, the coverage change ratio should be 0.3 or higher.
  • Tensile Strength Ratio (TSR) 0.8 or higher
Handling Precautions
  • Be sure to wear the PPE (safety goggles, protective clothing, protective gloves, face shield, etc.) before use.
  • Wash the skin to remove the material using plenty of water and soap as it can cause skin irritation.
  • As the material can cause serious eye irritation, wash the eye under running water for a few minutes if it got into the eye.
  • If the skin or eyes came into contact with the material, take first aid and seek medical treatment.
  • Be sure to wash the contaminated PPE thoroughly before use.
